In the year sixteen hundred and nine,
Roman clergy,
At the beginning of the year you will hold an election:
Of one grey and black issued from Campania,
Never was there one so wicked as he.
Van
Berkel categorizes this quatrain as a year
quatrain.
The
lowest year number in the quatrains is the year 580, mentioned in
quatrain 06-02. The highest year number is the year 1999, mentioned in
quatrain 10-72. These numbers are smaller than 2242, the number of years
of the time span of the quatrains. This led to the "reference
number system".
The idea on which the reference number system is based, is that the
years, mentioned in the quatrains, are not years, but reference numbers
in the series of years between 1555 and 3797, the time span of the
quatrains.
This
quatrain will be fulfilled in the beginning of the year 3164 (1555 +
1609).

Römischer Klerus, im Jahre 1609 wirst du
Zum Führer des Jahres Wahl treffen
eines grauen und eines schwarzen, der Campagna Entstammenden,
der niemals so verderblich war.
Wöllner
interprets the first line as a reference to 1609 AD. He interprets the
third line as a reference to two Popes which were anointed one after
another in 1605: Leo IX and Paul V. He does not give any astrological
reference.[1]
