Au poinct du iour au second chant du coq,
Ceulx de Tunes,de Fez,& de Bugie:
Par les Arabes captif le Roy Maroq,
L'an mil six cens & sept,de Liturgie.
Translation
(Van Berkel, 2002)
At daybreak at the second crowing of the cock,
Those of Tunis, of Fez and of Bougie,
By the Arabs the king of Morocco captured,
The year sixteen hundred and seven, of the Liturgy.
Van
Berkel categorizes this quatrain as a year
quatrain.
The
lowest year number in the quatrains is the year 580, mentioned in
quatrain 06-02. The highest year number is the year 1999, mentioned in
quatrain 10-72. These numbers are smaller than 2242, the number of years
of the time span of the quatrains. This led to the "reference
number system".
The idea on which the reference number system is based, is that the
years, mentioned in the quatrains, are not years, but reference numbers
in the series of years between 1555 and 3797, the time span of the
quatrains.
The
fulfilment year of this quatrain is the year 3162 (1555 + 1607). The
meaning of the words "of the Liturgy" is not clear.

Gegen Tagesanbruch beim zweiten Hahnenschrei
Die von Tunis, Fez und Bougie.
Von den Arabern wird der marokkanische König gefangengenommen
um das Jahr 1607, nach gottesdienstlicher Vorschrift.
Wöllner
connects the fourth line of this quatrain with a Solar Eclipse,
occurring on February 16, 1607 (Julian calendar) on 7 Pisces, which in
Fez was clearly visible. Regarding history, he referred to the quarrel
between two brothers, princes, where Mulei Zidan, the oldest, king of Fez,
wanted to rule again over Morocco.[1]
