In
this radio documentary, broadcasted on radio Deutschlandfunk
on September 16, 2008, the German journalist
Christian Blees discusses the relation in nazi-Germany between
astrology and national-socialism. He raises the backgrounds of
the prohibition, issued in 1938 by the national-socialists, to
practice astrology in whatever way: they argued that astrology
was in conflict with national-socialist ideas about the racial
soul.
Blees also highlights how the national-socialists used the Centuries
for psychological warfare, in order to undermine the morale of
their adversaries, and the fact that astrologers were ordered to
determine the locations of hostile submarines by means of
pendulum techniques.
This radio documentary contained a.o. parts of Blees'
conversation on June 19, 2008 with T.W.M. van Berkel about his
findings in his research on the use of the Centuries in
World War II for
psychological warfare.
