Most of the researches on
the Prophecies of Nostradamus
have an "exegetic" nature. Many Century-scholars try to explain the
meaning of quatrains and predictions and try to discover the underlying
sources. Only few Century-scholars occupy themselves with research on the source
texts, written by or attributed to Nostradamus.
In this section, two
outstanding French research projects are presented, one by Robert
Benazra, the other one by Jacques Halbronn D.Litt.

Une
influence de la Kabbale dans l'oeuvre de Nostradamus?
A contribution in French by Robert Benazra on CURA,
the website of the Centre Universitaire de Recherche en
Astrologie, edited by dr. Patrice Guinard. Benazra
argues that a number of phrases in the Preface to Cesar
and the Epistle to Henry II point to cabbalistic
influences. Benazra also discusses the structure which
might be hidden behind the year 1557, mentioned in the
Epistle to Henry II, and the year 3797, mentioned in the
Preface to Cesar, and also discusses, from a Jewish
point of view on the Centuries, the classic
"seven climates" and World
War II.

Les

contribution by Robert Benazra on CURA. In this essay,
Benazra discusses the contents and the backgrounds of
the Almanachs and Pronostications.
On CURA, an English
translation of this article, made in 2003 by Matyas
Becvarov, is also available.

THE
RESEARCH PROJECT OF DR. JACQUES HALBRONN
|
|
Espace
Nostradamus and Encyclopaedia
Hermetica
Jacques Halbronn wrote a large number of articles
about a.o. Nostradamus, astrology, the Aquarian age and
prophetism. These articles are available online on
Benazra's websites, mentioned above.
In the articles about Nostradamus which Halbronn wrote
until now, he describes the advances and new insights of
his research, which in 2002 lead to the publication of Documents
inexploités sur le phénomène Nostradamus.
|
| 1999 |
Le
texte prophétique en France. Formation et fortune.
Halbronn's thesis is published in 1999 by l'Atelier
National de Réproduction de Thèses (Nanterre, Paris
X). For a part, Benazra has made it available online.

Documents
inexploités sur le phénomène Nostradamus
In this book
Halbronn presents his insights and ideas about the authenticity the nostradamian oeuvre. He analyses the
Epistle to Henry II which precedes the Présages
Merveilleux pour 1557 and evaluates the authenticity
of the Epistle to Henry II which precedes the eighth,
ninth and tenth century. He takes consequences of the
absence of quatrain verses, belonging to the fifth,
sixth and seventh century, in a compilation of quatrain
verses, taken from the Centuries, in Crespin's Prophéties
à la Puissance divine. Generally, it is assumed
that the fifth, sixth and seventh century were first
published in 1557. Finally, he presents the Sixains
de Morgard, which book includes an interpretation
key.

Michel
de Nostredame face à la critique nostradamique
In this article, published on CURA, the website,
edited by dr. Patrice Guinard, Halbronn briefly argues
why, according to his opinion, the editions of the
Centuries which carry the most early years of edition
(among which those of 1555 and 1557) are published after
the decease of Nostradamus in 1566 and are the result of
a "revision" of authentic material which is no
longer current. He discusses references in a book by
Jean de la Daguenière, a comtemporary of Nostradamus,
and supposes that he does not refer to the Centuries as
we know them today. Halbronn also discusses a
compilation of nostradamian quatrain verses by Antoine
Crespin, another comtemporary of Nostradamus, and treats
the fact that Crespin did not use the Centuries 05, 06
and 07, which carry the year of issue 1557 and the name
of the Lyonese publisher Antoine du Rosne.

Reflexions
sur les méthodes de travail des nostradamologues
In this article, also published on CURA,
Halbronn poses the question if it is enough in
bibliographic research on the work of Nostradamus to
orient oneself on the name of Nostradamus as the author
and the year of issue. Regarding this question, Halbronn
discusses the various editions of the Centuries, sources
upon which the Centuries might be based, Almanachs and
Pronostications and numerous other publications. In the
end, he presents a chronology of editions of the
Centuries which, according to him, are counterfeited.

online-magazine La Grande Conjonction. In #11

Le
Dominicain Giffré de
Réchac (1604-1660) et la naissance de la critique
nostradamique, au
XVIIe siècle (May
26, 2007)
On October 20, 2007, Halbronn has defended a post-doctoral
dissertation at the Sorbonne University in Paris,
entitled Le Dominicain Giffré de Réchac (1604-1660)
et
la naissance de la critique nostradamique, au XVIIe
siècle,
in which
he discusses the history of nostradamic critic.
In his Letter on
Nostradamus (July 17, 2003), Halbronn explained the readers of www.nostradamusresearch.org the
nature of his research on Nostradamus and the Centuries
and some of his findings, as described in e.g. his
thesis Le
texte prophétique en France. Formation et fortune
and his articles on Espace
Nostradamus.
On May 26, 2007, invited by www.nostradamusresearch.org, Halbronn
has written a contribution in which he presents a brief
summary of his post-doctoral dissertation. In this
contribution, he discusses the developments and findings
during the past years in his research on Nostradamus and
the Centuries.
